A comprehensive roadmap of everything you need before submitting your app to Google Play.
Publishing your application to the Google Play Store is a complex process. Preparing the right assets, declarations, and builds beforehand will save you time and prevent unnecessary rejection cycles. Use this checklist as your publication roadmap.
1. Development & Assets Requirements
- Signed Android App Bundle (AAB): Compile using target SDK requirements.
- App Icon: Exactly 512 x 512 pixels, 32-bit PNG, max file size 1MB.
- Feature Graphic: Exactly 1024 x 500 pixels, JPG or 24-bit PNG.
- Screenshots: Minimum of 2 and maximum of 8 screenshots for Phone, 7-inch tablet, and 10-inch tablet sizes.
2. Policy & Metadata Declaration
- Privacy Policy: Hosted URL outlining data collection, sharing, and retention details.
- Data Safety Form: Finished declarations for user data processing.
- Age Rating: Complete the IARC questionnaire in the Play Console.
Crucial Tip: If your app contains a login screen, you must provide working test credentials in the **App Access** setting page of your Console. Otherwise, Google's reviewers cannot audit your app and will reject it.
3. Test Track Configuration
Configure your testing tracks. For personal developer accounts, you must launch a closed test track with 12 or 20 active testers for at least 14 continuous days before production access can be requested.
