Step-by-Step Testing Guide

Follow these instructions to successfully configure closed testing on your Google Play Console and integrate PlayLaunch testers.

Step 1

Create a Closed Testing Track

Google Play Console requires apps to run on a Closed Testing Track to qualify for production.

  • Go to your Google Play Console and select your app.
  • In the left sidebar, navigate to Testing → Closed testing.
  • Click Create track in the top-right corner.
  • Enter a track name (e.g., PlayLaunch Testing Track) and click Create track.
Important: Internal testing tracks do NOT count toward Google's 14-day 20-tester requirement. You must create a Closed Testing track.
Step 2

Add Tester Emails

Add PlayLaunch's pool of verified tester emails to your newly created closed track.

  • Within your Closed testing track dashboard, select the Testers tab.
  • Under "Email lists", click Create email list.
  • Enter a list name (e.g., PlayLaunch Testers).
  • Copy or download the tester list from your PlayLaunch developer dashboard.
  • Paste or upload the email list into the text box and click Save.
  • Make sure you check the box next to your new list in the track configuration and click Save changes.
Step 3

Publish the Release

You must create and roll out a release inside your Closed Testing track.

  • Go back to your Closed Testing track and select the Releases tab.
  • Click Create new release.
  • Upload your App Bundle (.aab) file.
  • Add release notes and click Next.
  • Review and click Start rollout to Closed testing.
Note: Google will take a few days to review your app bundle release before it goes active.
Step 4

Retrieve and Share the Join URL

Provide the opt-in/testing join URL to PlayLaunch so our testers can join your track.

  • In the Closed testing menu, select your track and click on the Testers tab again.
  • Scroll down to the "How testers join your test" section.
  • Copy the "Join on the web" link (looks like https://play.google.com/apps/testing/your.package.name).
  • Submit this link inside the Testing URL field on the PlayLaunch Submit App form.
Step 5

Start the Campaign

Once submitted, PlayLaunch automatically assigns our active pool of testers. Emojis, bug reporting and daily logins are initiated automatically. Monitor daily metrics on your dashboard.
