Google Play's **Data Safety Form** is a mandatory declaration. In this form, you disclose to users how your application collects, shares, and secures their personal information. If your app collects data that you fail to declare, your app will be flagged or rejected.

1. Data Collection vs Data Sharing

You must understand how Google defines these concepts:

  • Collection: Transmitting data from the user’s device to your servers or third-party servers (e.g. analytics, backend).
  • Sharing: Transferring user data to third parties who can use it for independent purposes (such as advertising networks).

2. Step-by-Step Form Completion

Go to your Play Console under **App content** > **Data safety**:

  1. Overview: Select the types of data your app collects (e.g. Location, Personal Info, Financial Info, Files, Device IDs).
  2. Usage: For each data type, declare why you collect it (e.g. App functionality, Analytics, Developer communications, Advertising).
  3. Security: Disclose whether the data is encrypted in transit and whether users can request data deletion.
Key Rule: Even if you collect anonymous analytical metrics, you must declare it under the Analytics category. If your app integrates Google Analytics or Firebase, this is mandatory.

3. Account Deletion Requirements

If your app allows users to create accounts, you must provide a web link in the Data Safety section that allows users to request account deletion and the deletion of associated personal data.
